How to Make a Bequest to Pacific Legal Foundation

A bequest is a transfer, by will or trust, of property such as cash, securities (stocks), or tangible property to an individual or a charitable organization, such as PLF. The language below shows how a bequest can very easily be included in your will. Drafting a will should be arranged through an attorney.

Distributing your estate by means of a professionally drafted will or living trust ensures that your wishes will be carried out. They can also serve as a creative vehicle for making a thoughtful gift to PLF.

For many people, a bequest offers the opportunity to make a larger gift than would be possible during one's lifetime. A bequest gift also reduces your assets subject to estate tax. With a bequest, you can leave a lasting legacy toward protecting individual rights and economic liberties. With PLF's modest size, your gift can make a substantial difference in our fight for freedom compared to much larger organizations.

Example bequest language - please feel free to change the numbers or percentages as you desire.

Bequest of Cash

"I bequeath the sum of $100,000 to Pacific Legal Foundation of Sacramento, California."

Bequest of a Percent of the Estate Cash

"I devise and bequeath 20% of the remainder and residue of property owned at my death, whether real or personal, and wherever located to Pacific Legal Foundation, Sacramento, California."

Contingent Bequest

"If my brother John Doe survives me, I devise and bequeath 20% of the remainder and residue of property owned at my death, whether real or personal, and wherever located to John Doe. If John Doe does not survive me, then I devise and bequeath 20% of my residuary estate, whether real or personal property and wherever located to Pacific Legal Foundation, Sacramento, California."
